Program & Activities

The 2015 Bastille Day Chicago celebration will be featuring a variety of live entertainment, performances and activities for all ages.
The program includes:


5:00–6:00 p.m., 7:00–8:00 p.m., 8:20–9:00 p.m.
La Jarry

LA JARRY is a French rock band formed by two brothers Benoît (Lead vocals) and David Pourtau (Guitar). The band is well known for its muscular performances on stage and has a solid fan-base in France and Canada (more than 100 gigs in 2013 in Europe). La Jarry is a rock band full of personality and the combination of strong melodies and Benoît Pourtau's voice makes it a hit.

6:30–6:50 p.m.
National Anthems & Speech from the Consul General of France

Mr. The Consul General of France will take a moment to thank all the sponsors and staff that made this event possible. Then, both national anthems: The Star Spangled Banner and La Marseillaise will be sung by Nathalie Ingrisano, accompagnied by musicians.

5:30–6:30 p.m.
Waiters’ Race

Watch waiters from your favorite French restaurants and participants compete in a race that involves running as fast as you can while balancing a tray… without spilling a drop of Grand Cru. It's our traditional Course de Garçons de Café.

We are looking for champions!

First prize: A bottle of French champangne from the Alliance Française. Everybody gets a photo – souvenir!

The coolest French sport ever, pétanque has been played on the place publique of each town and village in the south of France for centuries. All you have to do is get close to the cochonnet [ko-sho-ney]… and pretend you're in Marseille instead of in troubles! The Chicago Pétanque Club will be on-hand to demonstrate the game, initiate the beginners, and organize a casual game on one of our two courses.

Photo booth de l'Alliance Française

Free & Fun: French Up your look at the Alliance Française photo booth. Props, give-aways and staff on-hand to parlez-vous «parler» with you. Most original portrait snaps a free class and membership « chez nous »… Bonne chance !

Kids’ Corner

First 25 kids will receive a gift bag filled with goodies. Don't miss out , to come and enjoy the Bastille day fun.

“Wine & Canvas” presents “Cookies & Canvas,”
a paint class for kids ages 5 and up.

Your little one will paint and socialize over cookies. Parents are welcome to join painting memories with their child or observe their young artist in the creative process.

“Cookies & Canvas Studio”

5:00–5:30 p.m.: 30 minutes step by step instruction of the Cookies & Canvas class by an artist starts.

5:45–6:45 p.m.: first class starts.

7:00–8:00 p.m.: second class starts.

All the Picassos will be able to take their masterpieces home.

Bastille day coloring studio will open at 5:00 p.m.

For little ones from ages 1 to 4.

Crayons, markers and french coloring books will be provided.

Complementary Bastille day hair decorating and many more fun activities will be offered to all the little Messieurs and Demoiselles.

Ken Schultz, the « Flying Fool »

With over 25 years of experience as a family entertainer, Ken will keep everyone laughing. The show includes comedy juggling, unicycling, fire-eating, and lots of audience participation. From preschoolers to seniors, everybody loves Ken Schultz, “The Flying Fool”!
