HK & Les Saltimbanks

An outstanding stage group, HK & The Saltimbanks exude a special energy, both in their melodies and in their incisive, protesting and yet sensitive lyrics.
At the group's origins — and behind the initials HK – is Kaddour Haddadi, born in 1976 to Algerian immigrant parents in northern France. Raised to the sound of Bob Marley and traditional North African songs, Kaddour was destined to be a world musician, touching on everything, with an insatiable appetite. As a teenager, he discovered Jacques Brel and came under the spell of this ingenious performer.

In 2010, HK & les Saltimbanks releases Citoyen du monde, which included the famous anthem of French-speaking protesters, On lâche rien! The album reflected the spirit of Kaddour, his thirst for justice combined with sensitivity to the fate of the excluded and of day-to-day activists, always with a continuously renewed energy and pleasure in singing and dancing.
In 2012, after a very long tour, HK & Les Saltimbanks came back with an album titled Les Temps modernes. In this new work, the group sings about our era, between revolt and hope, adding chaâbi, reggae, French song, blues and hip hop influences. The new album includes a reggae version of "Amsterdam" by Jacques Brel. Kaddour Haddadi used this experience to add a facet to his many talents, HK & Les Déserteurs, putting classics of French song to chaâbi beats.

Please join us and dance to the world sound of HK & les Saltimbanks!

Naila

Naila Joseph, a Trinidadian born singer, did her first recording at the tender age of 3. Being a daughter of a pastor and a music teacher, Naila's earliest musical influences were due to her exposure to gospel and classical music within her household. She recalls her childhood home as being always filled with students coming in and out for lessons, choir rehearsals and band practices. As time progressed her passion for singing intensified, her first solo performances taking place in local churches by the age of nine.

Naila began recording and performing as a back up singer for some well renowned artists in the Caribbean and Europe. She has done collaborations with Nicholas Brancker (A famous Barbadian Producer) and with 3 Canal (Rapso Giants of Trinidad and Tobago) on their Fire Nex Time Album. She has also done collaborations with Machel Montano (The Soca King of Trinidad and Tobago) then went on to work with Rupee (A Caribbean Artist signed to Atlantic Records with the hit song "temted to touch") with whom she toured extensively throughout the US and the Caribbean. Now doing what she calls futuristic soul and just back from a tour of India, Naila and French producer Jeoffrey a.k.a. "Whitey" have collaborated and created a unique album which is a fusion of pop urban music with a Caribbean/World influence that will take you on a journey...a journey of life. She tours America with HK & les Saltimbanks this summer. Check her out recording in studio!
